to the Sticky password template. My sandboxed Firefox wouldn't react anymore when adding new logins. The above entry solved the problem for me.

I never did see the resource that you listed in your first post, in any of my Resource Access Monitor reports, when I tried the program:

I did see all of the ones that tzuk has listed in the template.

However, turning off the #...# Sandboxie indicators as you suggested in your previous thread seems to be the key for me.
I just wish that I had seen your solution before I spent hours trying to get the Sticky Password button to reliably appear, and then trying to find out why it wouldn't.

The option #....# doesn't show up under the latest beta version 4 of Firefox. The Sticky Password (SP) button doesn't show up too, even the option #.....# is set to off.

Talking about SP, the people over there are great. I know the owner personally. I purchased SP version 3 very cheap, many, many moons ago. I was told I have to pay for major upgrades. Version 4 came and I was given free upgrade. And, then version 5 came and I was again given free upgrade.

Now, compare this to RoboForm 6. When I bought two licenses, I was told free updates and upgrades for lifetime. Recently, when RoboForm 7 was released, I had to purchase another 2 licenses.

The only way that I've used Firefox 4 Beta 9 is by having it installed inside of a sandbox.
Is your install of that version inside or outside of the sandbox?

Installed in a sandbox, Sandboxie's #....# indicators show up fine for me.
I didn't try using Sticky Password with that version though, so I don't know what my results would have been.

Sorry to come back late to your question. Recently, I purchased three imaging programs, so was very busy trying to do backup imaging on all the computers in the house. To answer your question, yes my install is outside of the Sandboxie. I have tried many times to install in Sandboxie, but I get always get the following errors:


BTW, I use Windows 7 x64 operating system. I just looked up error SBIE2217, and will try it later.

Many, many thanks for your help. I did un-check the "Drop Rights" and installed the Firefox in the Sandboxie. I have some more questions.

1. Now I have two installations of Firefox, one in the Sandboxie and outside the Sandboxie. Do I now need to uninstall the later one?

2. I am using Firefox 4 beta 10, and the RoboForm toolbar doesn't open anymore. The toolbar always has some problem but now it doesn't open at all. Do I need to install the RoboForm in the Sandboxie too? BTW, I tried this, but it didn't install, saying that it couldn't find the user data.

3. Do I need to install other programs connected to Firefox in the Sandboxie too? Such as Sticky Password, Download Manager and so forth.

4. The #.....# still doesn't show up in the title bar of Firefox? Maybe, it has something to do with beta 10.

5. Even with #......# off (un-checked), the Sticky Password button doesn't show up in Firefox?

No, these installations should be able to exist concurrently. But the question is whether two installations of Firefox are necessary in the first place. Presumably, Guest10 was testing the Beta inside the sandbox, while preserving a different Firefox version outside the sandbox. If all you want is to get Sticky Password working, I'd suggest only keeping the unsandboxed Firefox and working from there.


I'm not familiar with the specifics, so I'll defer to Guest10 or others. But in general, if you install Firefox in the sandbox and it uses a new profile, then your extensions will need to be reinstalled in the sandboxed profile. Globally-installed extensions could be an exception to this (if the sandboxed Firefox uses the same program files directory), but I'm not sure. For background info, see Installing extensions on mozillaZine.

I would not expect that the pre-defined RoboForm template would work for a program that is installed inside of a sandbox.
That's because the template makes use of OpenFilePath settings (Direct File Access) and a program that is installed inside of a sandbox cannot make use of those settings.
Programs in a sandbox need to use OpenPipePath settings (Full File Access).

You could try adding a new Local Template to your configuration file, based on the existing template for RoboForm.
As an alternative, you could just edit the (3) OpenPipePath and OpenIpcPath lines into the settings for that sandbox.

Since I don't use RoboForm, and haven't tried this, I can only offer it as a possibility.
Add the template using Applications > Local > Create New, and then apply it to the sandbox of choice using Applications > Local > (select the template) > Add > OKI normally prefer to use a Local Template, since the template can be easily deleted along with all of it's settings, and you are certain that all added lines are gone.
If this is just a temporary sandbox that you are using though, it's just as easy to "Remove Sandbox" when you are done with it.
So you could just just edit those 3 lines into it's settings, and try it.

From looking at the template for Sticky password, I can't see any settings that would not work for a program that's installed inside of a sandbox.
As stated previously though, I didn't try using it with the Firefox 4 Beta 9 version that I have in a sandbox.
So far I haven't replaced the sandbox install of Beta 9, with the latest Beta 10, but Sandboxie's #...# indicators showed up fine for me in Beta 9.

As far as having Firefox outside of the sandbox, and then installing it inside of a sandbox too, the sandbox install might think that it has extensions installed, but they are really installed in the unsandboxed profile. It may or may not cause a problem, since reads from the unsandboxed profile are allowed, but writes are confined to the sandbox.
So you can uninstall or install extensions in the sandbox, and those changes will override anything that might cause a problem.
And files that are included with the sandboxed install may not exist outside of the sandbox, but again that's no problem.
In general, I haven't seen any problem with the sandboxed install thinking it has the extensions that exist outside of the sandbox. And of course, some extensions install themselves into the 'Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Extensions' folder, and will be used for all Firefox profiles unless Disabled in a particular profile.
