When Windows Media Player 12 (WMP) is forced and I double-click an unsandboxed media file, I get a ~30-second delay and then:
Code:
SBIE2203 Failed to communicate with Sandboxie Service:  RPCSS/SXS - wmplayer.exe

After ~60 seconds, WMP opens and the file plays normally.

The issue seems related to forcing wmplayer.exe. There's no problem if the media file is opened using right-click > Run Sandboxed, or if double-clicking from a sandboxed Explorer.

Tested with Sandboxie 3.51.03 on Windows 7 x86 and x64. I exited my only security software (KIS 2010/2011) before testing.

Fix confirmed with 3.51.04 on x86 and x64 - but I had to replace SbieDll.dll (as instructed here) on x86 as well as x64. Thanks, tzuk.

Btw, not sure if this is related to the latest changes, but Sandboxie's behavior when opening large numbers of files with long filespecs has improved. I updated the Open Issue, http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=46447#46447.

Perhaps related: When I looked into the problem you reported here, I noted and fixed a problem with how the forced Windows Media Player was handling the path to the media file.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I can't post a new 1 in this forum.....

On Vista 64bit SP2,I get this error:
SBIE2334 Cannot load DLL file: wer.dll
SBIE2304 Initialization failed for process WerFault.exe

Only other security software installed,is MS Security Essentials 2.0.522.0,and Windows Firewall, with Windows Firewall Control 1.6 as gui for that 1.
This error started with 3.51 beta 1 and is still happening with 3.51 beta 4.......however,when I revert back to 3.50,the error is gone, and I can access the internet again through SandBoxie.

Well roady I'm not sure what I did to address this specific issue but I'm glad it works better now. Please keep up with future 3.51 builds and let me know if this problem comes back.

2 other problems:so far, with every 3.51 beta,I get "error loading C:\Windows\System32\inetcpl.cpl,the system can't find the specified file" when closing a sandboxed IE.
Reverting back to 3.50 stable resolves this error.
I could narrow it down to an IE setting:remove browser history on close........when enabled,I get the error, when disabled, sandboxed IE closes fine.
This doesn't happen when running IE unsandboxed with the same setting disabled or enabled.

The other problem is with the gui:when I change settings for the IE command bar to anything else than "show only icons ", there is something strange.....instead of the button names,I get a very weird character for the" Page, Safety, Tools" buttons, for all 3 of them, the character is identical :it looks like a chinese font. Shocked

roady, I think I can reproduce at least the second problem you reported, I will try to fix it by the time I release the next beta version of Sandboxie.

THX,looking forward to get the next beta..... Smile

As for both problems,I'm running a dualboot system and they only happen on Vista 64 bit SP2,on my Win 7 32 bit partition,no such errors ATM.

Yep. It looks like the problem was specific to 64-bit Windows Vista. Can you check if version 3.51.08 fixes this?
