It does seem like something has changed, in regard to dragging and dropping into sandboxed Firefox.
I never use it to install extensions, though. I always run Firefox unsandboxed for that. I tried dragging and dropping a .url shortcut into a sandboxed Firefox main window, and it doesn't work. It used to work in the past, so something isn't the same. (I'm now using 3.49.03) Not that I use drag and drop for .url's either. I would just double-click one of those and the Firefox window that's open will open the .url in a new tab. I'm not aware of any option that will override this behaviour. |

I don't know if this is connected, but when I want to convert an image to a data URI using something like datauri.com, I can do it only by using a non-Sandboxied browser.
My first try was to drag the image from my desktop to the box provided by datauri.com in Sandboxied Firefox. I just got a "You're Welcome" message but not data URI. I also tried this: with Firefox running Sandboxied, I right-clicked on the Sandboxie Control icon, chose explore contents to get a window and dragged the image into that window. From there, I dragged it to the box provided @ datauri.com. Same result. If I close down the Sandboxied browser and run a non-Sandboxied browser, there is no difficulty in getting the data URI generated. But, for obvious reasons, I'd like to stay Sandboxied as far as possible! (I'm on Sandboxie 3.5.2, WinXP SP3 and Firefox 4.0b12pre (2011-02-10).) |

Woohoo, thanks tzuk! Makes it faster to install and (beta) test extensions too.

The drag&drop facility to attach files in Gmail when using Chrome also doesn't work unless you load Explorer into the same Sandbox (and then you have another problem that the dragged file can't interact with the taskbar to switch apps to Chrome for the "drop" part)
Using 3.53.02 |

Yes, I was able to reproduce this problem. It seems to affect all browsers, not only Chrome. The GMail web app is not compatible with how drag-n-drop works in Sandboxie, so for now, you will have to use the Attach Files button/link. I am planning to revise/enhance drag-n-drop in a future version of Sandboxie. * * * I did however fix something in version 3.53.03. You can now drag files into the Google Chrome frame. |
