For no reason I can figure out this afternoon I suddenly began to get this error message when trying to run either IE8 or Opera sandboxed.

It does not happen if I run my Outlook Express or any other thing sandboxed.

I right click on browser icon, select run sandboxed and a small window with Sandboxie Start on the top appears saying

Could not invoke program:
''C\Program Files\Opera\opera.exe''
System Error Code:
The system cannot find the file specified.
(2)

Then there is an okay button.

However I am still able to use the browser sandboxed, I either press ok or the browser window opens anyway and the error window is behind it .

Using xp sp3.

Does this happen even if you run sandboxed in another sandbox?

Tzuk I have tracked the cause down.

I installed a new beta build of Online Armor yesterday and I can reproduce the error at will now with OA's run safer being turned on or off for my browsers.

I have sent a report to the OA devs.

Thanks again for your time.

I can confirm what opera is seeing with Sbie and runsafer. I'm getting 2 different errors which depend on how you start the runsafer, sandboxed program. If I right-click a program from program files and run it sandboxed I get the error and 2 instances of firefox.exe appear . If I start from a shortcut I get the error and only one instance of firefox.exe starts.

I've tried with and without Sbie's "Drop Rights" and it doesn't matter. I have OA ticked in Sbie for compatibility. I also don't recall any problems with runsafer and Sbie in the recent past.

Peter2150 pointed out that the problem doesn't exist if the app is started as a forced program. We have also confirmed this.

There was a similar issue back in April. Start reading with Subset's post. http://sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=5337&start=15

Edit: If would like Resource Access Monitor logs let me know. Also let me know how you want me to start the runsafer and sandboxed app.

balloonshark can you tell if this happened after an update to Sandboxie or to Online Armor, or neither?

This started with OA betas 4.0.0.5 through 4.0.0.7. Sorry, I should have mentioned that.

Edit: All three of us are using XP. I'm not sure if this problem exists on other OS.

Until I get a chance to look into this, would you mind bringing this to the attention of Online Armor and ask them about it?

Mike and the team at Online Armor know about the issue and a link to this thread has been posted in their beta forum.

Response from OA devs. Am unsure Tzuk as to which way the tests were conducted on this........

The watcher logs differ when FF runsafer and runnormal:
1.) runsafer

2.) runnormal

[20:59:00.468] E78 002A6969 - 00280000 - C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\SbieDll.dll
[20:59:00.468] E78 CreateProcessW: App: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe

[20:59:00.483] E78 CreateProcessW(Err): C1
[20:59:00.483] E78 CreateProcessW(Str): %1 is not win32 (executable/application/program)
[20:59:00.499] E78 ---
[20:59:00.499] E78 002A6969 - 00280000 - C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\SbieDll.dll
[20:59:00.499] E78 CreateProcessW: App: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
[20:59:00.499] E78 CreateProcessW: Mod: C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\SbieDll.dll
[20:59:00.499] E78 CreateProcessW: Cmd: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
[20:59:00.499] E78 CreateProcessW: Dir: C:\Sandbox\Admin\DefaultBox\drive\C\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
[20:59:00.499] E78 MouseTime: 304656
[20:59:00.515] E78 CreateProcessW: ProcApiResponse = parAllow

So we see that in the first case there is not any error, this is why we see 2 FF. In the second case the first call results in error and this is why we see just a single FF. This info could be useful for tzuk

Just an update. OA released version 4.0.0.10 today and 2 users have already reported the runsafer issue.

I tried to reproduce this with Online Armor version 4 free, but I can't find a way to set a program to always start in runsafer mode. I try to "Add" a new entry in the "Programs" view, but it doesn't do anything. Any advice?

Open the OA Programs list, highlight Firefox, and click the RunSafer button at the bottom right. The Firefox entry in the Programs list should then appear greenish in color. That should do it.

I tried that, but my list of programs in the Programs view only displays DLLs.
Are you using the free version? Is this a limitation of the free version?

I use the paid version, OA Premium. It may well be a limitation in OA free. They do have a 30 day trial version of Premium if that helps.
