Thanks. The SID (S-1-5-21-...) looks like it represents a local account, but I'm going to ask anyway: Is your account defined on the local computer?
If you run "net user" in a command prompt window, do you see your user account listed there? Or are you in a domain environment and the account is coming from somewhere else? Also: please check your System Event Log to see if you got any messages that look like SBIE92xx , when you were using version 2.85. |

I also have the same problem with a differend SID of course. My user account is listed in "net user" and there is no System Event log entry. I too am reverting to v2.84 which had performed flawlessly.
FYI - also running WinXP Home, 1G Ram, etc. Jim |

Thanks for the quick reply, tzuk: Yes my User Account is listed there after typing in "net user". This is my Home Computer and I'm the Administrator. No other Accounts, and I'm not in a Domain Environment.
I've looked in the Event Log, and there are no references of any sort like you Posted. In fact there are no Errors of any type in the Event Log. BTW. I did turn off all Anti-Spyware Programs I have installed. (Anti-Virus, Windows Defender, Spyware Guard & everything else that was running Real-Time Protection. From reading the Post by JSladek, he has the exact same problem I have. Ken: |

winXP-SP2: no such problem with SBIE v2.85.
win2k-SP4: exactly the same error - SBIE1408 after the upgrade to v2.85 The SID is a local user's account. |

Just for the record. I'm using Windows XP Home - SP2, Fully Updated, Including the last Patch that came out earlier last week. Browser is IE 6. Haven't Installed anything on my Computer or changed anything at all.
Just can't figure out why this would happen. I've been using Sandboxie since version 2.80, and never had "Any" problems. Looking at the Update History, it doesn't look like there were many changes (Bug Fixes) from 2.84 to 2.85. Ken: |

Please download and try:
http://www.sandboxie.com/TSid.exe It lists the user accounts on the system. Post the output you get. |

What could I be doing wrong? I've Downloaded it, and when I Double-Click on it, all I get is a momentary flash of what I think is a Command Prompt box.
I tried Run from the Start Menu and I get the same thing. Ken: |

Hank52,
Try this: If you have tsid.exe in c:\download, say, at a command prompt, type: c:\download\tsid.exe > c:\download\results.txt Then, the file results.txt in the same folder should contain the information Tzuk requested. Hope that hepls, soccerfan |

TSID results (I have already reverted to v2.84):

Thanks everyone.
I've looked in a couple of output posts vs. the related error message. It seems in both cases, the SID showing in the error message (which is the SID for your user account), is not listed in the TSID output. Even if your particular user name IS showing in TSID, you will note, it is listed with a different SID than that which appears in the error message. So, anyone has an idea if any of your user account have been configured in some special way? |

The account where this error is seen was created long long time after the win2kSP4 installation. Before that this machine was operated from it's Administrator account.
The offending account is in the Admins group too though... Here is what Tsid reported:
The 1408 error is about the S-1-5-21-839522115-1708537768-2147004483-1006 user. I wonder what that USE=<3> mean?! And why there is no -1006 for the offending user? |

USE=3 indicates the account represents a domain. Yep, that's right: Not a user on a domain, it represents the domain itself. Any idea what the hell is going on in your systems? I now see that in all other cases, except Hank's, a record with USE=3 exists. In Hank's case, it seems his user (obviously the one replaced with XXX's) is associated with two different SID numbers. Confusing. ***** I just found something on a Microsoft knowledgebase article. Could it be that in your cases, your user name is the same as your machine name? |
