I tried to use the latest beta version, v3.57.06. But after the last step (click "finish") of installing process, SbieCtrl.exe crashed. I used SandboxieInstall64-357-06.exe

I tried twice and it crashed every time. And in the second time, after installing it, I restarted my PC, but SbieCtrl.exe crashed again. So please check, my friend.

I'm sorry but there isn't anything I can do about it without additional information. If you got a program crash log from Windows, it would be a good first step if you can quote some that information.

Here are pictures for this kind of crash. My OS is in Chinese. I hope it will not be a problem to understand the points.

Are they helpful? Or need more details? Please tell me how to get them.

I think the problem might be related to the contents of the sandbox somehow, although there is no enough information here for me to fully understand the cause of the problem.

You should try to rename your sandbox folder to something else, as a way to make Sandboxie Control not see the contents of your sandbox folder anymore.

Thanks for your suggestion. But there are many important installations in my sandbox folder. So it is hard for me to rename it, I think.

But before this beta version, everything is ok. There is no such problem with v3.57.01 to v3.57.05.

Alright, let's try a different approach. Would you be able to install a debugger and start Sandboxie Control under the debugger? This should give me much better insight into the problem. If you are willing to do that, install the 64-bit debugger as described in this help page:

http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?HowToUseWinDbg

Then start the debugger and from the File menu, use Open Executable to open C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\SbieCtrl.exe. Then, press F5 to run the program. It should crash inside the debugger. Then proceed as described in the last section of the help page, that section is titled Final Step.

Thanks!

EDIT: Please be sure to do this with version 3.57.07 that I just released, so I can have the most up to date information from the debugger.

ok, I will try.

I am glad to see new beta version released, but 3.57.07 crashed as well.

I tried. But something weird happened. In debugger, it did not crash, but still cannot work, and there is no icon in system tray as well. SbieCtrl.exe seems to be suspended. But outside the debugger, it crashes every time, even though I deleted my sandbox folder (before it, I had made backup).

snipped. --tzuk

A few things that might help:

1- List any and all security software installed in additon to Sandboxie on your system. They may be the source of some bizzare new found conflict.

2- Upload the crash dump file for Tzuk to have a look.

3- Try a comlete uninstall/ reinstall (which should be easy provided that you don't have anything permanently installed in your sandboxes)

Many thanks for your suggestion.

But,
1- there are only comodo (only firewall and D+) and Sbie for security softwares in my win7 64bit. Before SBie v3.57.06, everything is ok, including v3.57.01 to v3.57.05. Now I have to go back to v3.57.05 after trying v3.57.06and v3.57.07.

2- I think there is no crash dump file for this kind of crash.

3- I tried many times

TZUK,
FYI the post on top of me is spam.

I was JUST coming here to report this.

CONFIRMED 100%. forgot to report this before

tzuk,
Problem was introduced in 3.57.06. It does NOT occur in *.05. FYI

No... Not helpful, sorry. Are you sure you didn't already have a copy of SbieCtrl.exe running outside the debugger at the same time?

Also, can you try re-installing Sandboxie with the English language? I want to make sure the traslation has nothing to do with this.

That doesn't help me at all, because plenty of stuff changed between version .05 and .06 in Sandboxie Control.

Sorry I can't be more specific. It's very hard to be in this case. Whenever we run .07, I get a notification that Start.exe has crashed. the app (like samurize) still runs, but Start.exe still crashes.

stisev, this topic is about a crash in Sandboxie Control. Your crash is in Start.exe. Please repost your problem in a new topic and we can discuss is there.
