Hey

How do I configure sandboxie so that when I click on a torrent link/file off a website, within a firefox session that is sandboxed that it launches utorrent or uses the existing resident utorrent program outside of the sandbox?

I tried program stop and just listing firefox as the only program to run under restrictions, but it prevents utorrent from being run at all.

I currently have forced programs enabled, so that if I was to open a url outside the sandbox it would automatically start firefox within the sandbox.

Basically all I want sandboxie for is to sandbox firefox with everything else unsandboxed. Yes I'm giving up a bit of security for more convienance.

Regardless of firefox being forced to run sandboxed, I am at a loss as to how to get the sandboxed torrent file to open up in my already running unsandoxed utorrent program.

At the moment I have two workarounds, run an unsandboxed session of firefox or opening the url to the torrent file via utorrent directly.

Thanks for any advice provided.

Well, you could create an additional sandbox -> name it uTorrent - rightclick uTorrent and select "send to" -> uTorrnet sandbox - and then rightclick your browser and also send it to the uTorrent sandbox -> make sure that the uTorrent sandbox never deletes itself -> and then continue on as before.

(??)

I think this is how my bf runs his uTorrent...or maybe he has uTorrent installed within a sandbox and then he just "sends" his browser to that sandbox.
When he is sure the files are safe (no infections) he opens Explorer, opens Sandboxie, and cuts & pastes the files to a folder outside of the sandbox.
This is the safest way.

When it comes to fighting infections, you can't be lazy. Wink

cheers,

well i haven't been infected yet and only recently installed and purchased sandboxie.

i like to think i know what i'm doing, being an it professional after all.

I think i'll just run utorrent in the same sandbox once my current torrents finish seeding Smile

Your suggestion requires more work lol and defeats the "convienance" requirement, thanks for replying tho.
