I have Windows 7 - 64bit, Sandboxie version 3.64

If I try to install AcroPano Photo Stitcher from http://www.acropano.com/ (http://www.acropano.com/download/acropanosetup.exe)

When installing I receive error:

The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched.
Access is denied.

Sandboxie content was empty before running this acropanosetup.exe.

I have searched forum and found:
http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=5126
it seems it was already solved in Sandboxie version 3.43.08

Can you check this problem in latest 3.64 version?

Bye,
T.

Do you have the Drop Rights setting turned on in Sandbox Settings > Restrictions > Drop Rights?
If that is the case then please try to turn it off to see if it makes a difference.

Drop Rights are turned off.

I have also try this way:
- Save file from http://www.acropano.com/download/acropanosetup.exe
- Right mouse click on file and Run Sandboxed - selected Run As UAC Administrator and I receive the same error:

The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched.
Access is denied.

Also tried acropanosetup.exe in Virtual PC - Windows XP mode: no error there!

Can someone with Win7 (32bit or 64bit) confirm this error?

Thanks,
T.

I tested on 64-bit Windows 7 and I don't see the problem. The package installs successfully and the program starts correctly.

It might be caused by some settings in your specific sandbox, so please try to create a new sandbox to see if it makes a difference.

Alternatively look into other security software in your computer that is getting in the way here.

Tzuk thanks you tested it. It seems it is problem with my computer then. Did you test as limited user (and then you were asked for admin password) or you were running directly as administrator?

So, I found solution:

DCOMcnfg.exe
Console Root->Component Services->Computers->My Computer->Right mouse click->Properties->COM Security->
Access Permissions->Edit Default...->Add... (Add current user, in my case I have added my limited user) and select Local Access->Allow (If it is not already selected).

Maybe I can guess: It seems second time Sandboxie ask for admin password, it doesn't present to COM+ as administrator but as current user in my case limited user...

I have to admit, I didn't try running directly as administrator to confirm my theory:)

Good night,
T.

It was just some spam, you can disregard it.

No, I tested with an administrator account. I checked again with a limited user now, and I do see the problem.

Since you have a workaround, I am going to just make a note to look into this at some later time.
