Hi guys
I have read a couple threads about origin and sandboxie but I still cannot get rid of my problem.
I have battlefield 3 that I installed unsandboxed and for a while I was playing it sandboxed fine but recently it wont work.
When I try to play I can't see the ping of any of the servers and when I try to connect or play single player it just tries to connect but never goes anywhere.
I have tried editing my sandbox file, uninstalling and installing punkbuster and even trying the sbiextra.dll file I found in another thread with no luck.
If you guys could help me out I would really appreciate it
Here is my sandboxie file that I am using

snipped. --tzuk

any help would be appreciated
Thank You

I suggest you get rid of all the settings except
ClosedFilePath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin\IGO32.dll

and see how that works. If it does work, then add the other settings back incrementally until it stops working again. At that point you should be able to figure out which specific setting is causing the problem.

Well I got it to run by changing the DropAdminRights from Y to N
I dont know if that makes sandboxie run completely different or not.
any thoughts why this would make it run?
Thanks

One guess is that the game installs some services programs and the Drop Rights setting was preventing the game in the sandbox from starting those services. You should have seen messages from Sandboxie about this, but perhaps you told Sandboxie to hide such messages. In any case, this is just a guess. Glad to hear you were able to get the game to work again.

tzuk, i have a small problem with two EA games (FIFA 12 and Battlefield 3) installed in a sandboxed Origin. to be clear, i have installed EA Origin inside a sandbox, then installed FIFA 12 and Battlefield 3 inside the same sandbox as Origin. everything is working perfectly except for the following two small issues:

1) in Battlefield 3, when i log into Battlelog and check for multiplayer servers in Server Browser, i cannot see the pings associated with the servers if the browser is running inside the sandbox. however, with a browser outside the sandbox, the pings show up.

2) in FIFA 12, the firewall status always shows up as RESTRICTIVE. i have forwarded all the necessary ports for FIFA 12 through my router and have even disabled Windows Firewall completely. due to this, i have trouble finding online players for a multiplayer match.

my Origin sandbox settings are as below
snipped. --tzuk

the only things i added are the ClosedFilePath items to block Origin's access to my files. i also edited OpenWinClass according to your post to let PunkBuster access my online Battlefield 3 games.

Version 3.63.03 has a new setting related to firewall in Sandbox Settings > Restrictions > Hardware Access.
Try it and see if it makes a difference.
Download it here:

it didn't make any difference at all. i still can't see the server pings in Battlelog for Battlefield 3, and the firewall status still shows up as RESTRICTED in FIFA 12.

i noted that the following lines are added to my Sandboxie configuration file
Quote:
BlockFakeInput=y
BlockNetParam=n
BlockDrivers=y
BlockWinHooks=y
BlockSysParam=y
BlockPassword=y

is this normal?

btw, i found the following post about Sandboxie, Origin, and Battlefield 3: http://www.totalbantercommunity.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=632&start=90#p11875 , maybe it could help others in pinpointing the issue. the disappearing of the server pings is a common issue for a sandboxed browser.

The settings are ok, you can see that everything is blocked (=y) except BlockNetParam=n.

I'll take a look at this and let you know what I find out. But it will take me a few days until I can get to this.

It'd be really nice if the issue with the pings not displayed could be solved. Smile

I looked at it just long enough to deteremine it wasn't actually the trivial thing that I suspected.

Should be fixed in version 3.65.01, please check.

Also in version 3.65.01, you should be able to remove the block in Sandboxie on Origin's igo32.dll.

Finally, ping works for me. Good work tzuk.
Next time I'll be sure to report issues like these myself, this was bugging me for some time now.

On a related note, was it really necessary that SbieSvc.exe takes ownership of ICMP instead of esnlauncher3.exe?
Now any program in sandboxes can ping to any site as I had to allow any address ICMP from SbieSvc.exe in the firewall in order to have Battlelog Server Browser pings displayed.
