Hit the Windows key + E. Or pin explorer. Or pin explorer to your start menu (the new full page start menu.)
This is about as big a change as moving from XP to Vista/7. |

Right now it's a Developer preview. The beta is scheduled for January and the release in August.
Tzuk can start working on it whenever he likes =p but |

I just installed Sandboxie successfully on Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Yes, the current version of Sandboxie checks the OS version and therefore rejects Windows 8. But before you run the Sandboxie installer, if you right-click, go to Properties, Compatibility, check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows 7. For good measure I also checked "Run this program as an administrator" though I'm not sure this is necessary if you are already logged in as an admin.
Sandboxie successfully installed. |

Windows 8: Consumer Preview doesn't work with Sandboxie 3.68 or Sandboxie 3.69.02 beta.
I'm using Windows 8: Consumer Preview (64 bit) Here's what happens when you try to install it: http://i.imgur.com/08O0K.png Sandboxie can only be installed on the following versions of Microsoft Windows: Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4), Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7. Please update Sandboxie so that it works with Windows 8. |

So what is the point of installing if the driver does not load and you cannot run or use the program? |

I can tell you from personal use. The final build of Windows 8 is a lot different from those pics. It's basically windows 7 but with a different start menu.
After you get your gadgets installed it's almost exactly the same as windows 7, but faster. A lot faster. Upper and lower right corners work for stuff like file searches, turning power on and off, PC settings Start menu (bottom left corner corner for start window as well and the windows button also goes there) Upper left corner for apps you've opened for quick access (like email and other stuff like that) You can customize the start window however you want as well A lot more fluid then the start menu is. I honestly hated Windows 8 at first, until I learned how to use it. Once you learn, it's a lot better than 7 is. My only downfall currently is that Sandboxie doesn't work with it (the one I had installed anyway, couldn't even uninstall it properly) and my ATI graphics card has issues with windows 8. I'm just waiting on ATi for put out some new drivers for it. |

I dunno. I think they are more targeting the mobile/touch panel demo. Mac obviously has no problems throwing legacy out the window but their OS has been pretty much the same as far as GUI is concerned as far back as I can remember. Still has apple menu/status bar/Applications folder. etc.. They have added "features" like launchpad and mac app store. Launchpad would be the closest to the new windows GUI I can think of and it's hardly forced on mac. I never even use it bc i'm so used to the keyboard commands and search functions for accessing applications.
After using this new windows for about a week now I am used to it. But I get myself out of "metro" as soon as I can because It bugs me. It's also hard to use. You have to right click then move your mouse down and select a button called "all apps" in order to see a fully expanded what used to be start menu. Hitting the window key simply brings you to metro. You can hit the window key and start typing and it will search (thank god) All in all only issues i'm really having with it is getting other software to work like my video card which took some investigation and now sanxboxie. I do like how the desktop windows change color with your background. It's pretty neat. Good luck!. hopefully we see sandboxie on w8 soon!! |

Version 3.81.07 supports Windows 8 RTM build 9200. Thanks for the link to the trial version, Desko.
As it happens, earlier builds of Sandboxie did in fact not work on the 64-bit RTM build 9200, and adjustments were necessary. |

Oops, fixed the typo.
ah_ah thanks for the heads up. Not sure I'll try to fix this now though. I don't plan for more than preliminary support for Windows 8 initially, and version 3.81.07 already accomplishes that, I believe. |
