chrome version : 11.0.686.1
sandboxie version : 3.52
O.S. : Win xp, sp 3
No antivirus, no firewall, no conflicted programs (and No viruses, trust me!)

I am trying to install it... After it creates some folders and reg hives than it stops. No "programs" folder, no shortcut. Actually there is no sign of chrome files...
I tried install it from my desktop using right click menu says " run in sandbox"... After that I tried to remove installation file in to the sandboxies default folder and tried run in it (using right click menu ofcourse)... All the same!

I got that version of Chrome from here:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_google_chrome/

Installing that version normally (unsandboxed) during a virtual session, worked.

My results, using Sandboxie v3.53.05:
Installing in a sandbox: the "chrome_installer.exe" program runs "setup.exe", which ends and all sandboxed processes quit.
The chrome_installer.log file during a sandbox install shows:

[0303/130644:ERROR:move_tree_work_item.cc(60)] failed move
C:\Documents and Settings\(user)\Local Settings\Temp\CR_2FB.tmp\setup.exe
to
C:\Documents and Settings\(user)\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\11.0.686.1\Installer\setup.exe

[0303/130644:ERROR:work_item_list.cc(44)] item execution failed
[0303/130644:ERROR:install.cc(290)] Install failed, rolling back... result: 7
[0303/130644:ERROR:install.cc(292)] Rollback complete.

The "Local Settings\Application Data" folder was created in the sandbox, but the folders shown in red above did not get created during the install attempt.
Manually creating them in the sandbox did not help, though.

This is the same problem I reported earlier in the following post http://sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=10007 except the OP here is using Chrome in the title instead of Chromium...but the fact is he is using a Chromium Developer Build which is just a few builds newer from where I began seeing the problem!

Anyway, if you solve his problem it will more than likely solve the issue I am having as well. I can confirm what Guest10 is seeing in the chrome_installer.log.

Edit: Sorry I just thought of something that may be of some help to the OP and maybe Tzuk...I have been downloading the zipped version (chrome-win32.zip) of the newer Chromium builds in question instead of downloading and using the mini_installer.exe. You can extract the zipped file into a sandbox and then right click the chrome.exe inside the sandbox and run it using the Run Sandboxed command. Chromium then loads and works perfectly!

Dear Sirs or Madams,

I am clearly a computer neophyte compared to many of you. I'm not even sure I know how to use a forum correctly (if there is an etiquette). Can I include attachments to future posts?

I have Windows 7. I recently installed Sandboxie version 3.52 64 bit. My day to day use of my laptop is solely in a 'Standard User' account. I do not operate day to day in an 'Administrator' account. I am using Chrome version 10.0.648.127

I installed Sandboxie about a week ago to try it out. Primarily to sandbox questionable websites. I successfully used the 'Sandboxed Web Browser up until now. As of today it will not open Chrome browser. When I open the web browser sandbox I see the following processes:

Program Name

Default Sandbox
Sandboxie RpcSs.exe
SandboxieDcomLaunch.exe
Chrome.exe
WerFault.exe

After about 10 seconds, all of the above processes disappear in the Sandboxie Control window except Default Sandbox which no longer shows 'Active'.

I uninstalled Sandboxie from Control Panel/Program Features and re-downloaded it from CNET with the same result. I would love to have the 'Sandboxed Web Browser' functionality back. Can you advise me as to what I should do from here?

Thanks in advance!

This problem will be fixed in the next beta build.

monami, I don't think this is the same as the problem you reported, but you might try it, of course, to see if there is any difference.
