sorry, i thought it would be known some more.

aida64 was everest before and before that it was aida

aida (freeware) > everest (by lavalys, paid) > aida64 (same programmers from lavalys, another long story)

Thanks for the problem report Brummelchen, it is very good that you were able to notice this problem almost as soon as I introduced it. Very Happy

It started in version 3.53.02 and will be fixed in version 3.53.04.

PS Driver magician had same issue

PPS "color depth" is the wrong description - its the transparency of the menu buttons

The actual problem was that both version 5.1 and version 6.0 of COMCTL32.DLL were loaded into the process.
That could potentially cause a wide range of unexpected programs.

hmm, on win7 there is only 6.10 and winxp 6.0 - aida itself has none. how now?
and thats all, no place else to find except in \system32 (32bit both)

I may have listed the wrong version numbers. But I assure you the problem was multiple versions of COMCTL32 loaded into the process due to a problem in Sandboxie loading side-by-side (WinSxS) DLLs.

idd, there is another one with ~1.6meg while the other has 518kb (win7 32bit)
