You're supposed to use Code for codeboxes.

Guest101, I don't see anything out of the ordinary in your resource log. So I'm not sure what to tell you. But try going to Sandbox Settings > Applications > Accessibility and turn on the checkbox there. Let's see if that makes a difference. If it does, then we can try to work backwards to find out the specific cause.

Sadly it doesn't make a difference. Sad

As a test I started the Resource Access Monitor while the Reader shows the blank white screen. This is the log which appears after the 2 minutes delay when the PDF document shows up.

It's really strange, I have 4 PCs with XP SP3 here and all of them show this delay behavior.

I tried another way: I started the Reader first this time and then used its "Open" dialog.

The delay appears only if I open a "SECURED" document. But it appears only once if I don't close the Reader. If the Reader is still open no document shows a delay anymore.

It seems that the Reader needs something special if it wants to open a "SECURED" document?!

My feeling is that there is some setting in Windows or Adobe or maybe in Sandboxie that you have set one way, and I have set another way, and that's the difference that causes this behavior in your system, and prevents this behavior in my system.

Did you at any point try to run Adobe/PDFs in a newly created sandbox, which would have default settings?

Yes, I tried it in a new installed Sandboxie and with a new install Reader yesterday. But I always get this delay with secured documents. I think I will ignore the protected mode of the Reader now, because the Reader runs in the Sandboxie sandbox already. So there is really no need for the protected mode.

I will post here a message if I find the responsible setting.

Thank you very much for your great support and program. Very Happy

Here are some news:

I restored all tuning / optimization settings, but the delay didn't disappear. So I tried this:

I installed a fresh and clean XP SP3 using VirtualBox: no delay.
After installation of about 90 windows updates: still no delay.
After installation of Internet Explorer 8 (or 7): the delay is back!
After un-installation of newer Internet Explorer: no delay.

So it seems that the Internet Explorer 8 (or 7) is responsible for the delay. I can reproduce this every time I install or un-install the newer IE.

Happy Holidays!

Good job on identifying the specific cause of the problem. Well done. Let me see if I can finally reproduce the problem with this tip. Happy Holidays! Smile

. . . Unfortunately, installing IE 8 in my test XP machine made no difference.

Thank you for testing. I'm really confused. Confused My VirtualBox is a clean XP SP3 installation with the windows updates only. And every time I install the IE 8 or 7 the delay occurs. (And all my 4 PCs show the delay too.) Very strange!

But I understand you. If you can't reproduce the delay, you don't know where to start the search. Anyway, thank you again and happy holidays.

Now I found the culprit! Very Happy I made a mistake and used the wrong VirtualBox snapshot. I didn't recognize that the program "Spybot Search & Destroy" was installed in snapshot already.

The delay occurs in combination with the "Internet Explorer 8 (or 7)" and "Spybot Search & Destroy" only. If you have used the "Immunize" function of "Spybot Search & Destroy" the delay occurs.

Following immunize options are responsible:

Internet Explorer (32 bit)
\SOFTWARE (Domains)

Internet Explorer (32/64 bit)
"username" (Domains)

Any idea why this produce a delay with a sandboxed "Adobe Reader"?

Ah, the good old Immunize feature. It's been causing problems with Sandboxie for ages; you can search the forum for "immunize" to see what I mean. Smile I'll try to reproduce the problem again. Version 1.6.2 ?

Yes, I installed the latest version 1.6.2 in my VirtualBox XP. (Also tested: on all 4 PCs I undo the immunization and the delay was gone.)

Hey Ronan,

i like Sandboxie very well and use it for a long time. javascript:emoticon('Very Happy')
3 or 4 weeks ago, I installed the new Acrobat Reader X ,as supposed of the firefox web site.
After this Acrobat Reader didn`t work sandboxed. So I give the beta Version 3.51.07 a try and it works fine. So my question. When do you publish a new official version of Sandbxie?
Thanks, merry christmas and a happy new year.
Angela
Adobe Reader 10 doesn't start so well by default
