Import old sandboxes after accidental uninstall ?

I was getting memory read errors all over the place in all of my sandboxes after I upgraded to sandboxie 3.40 or later , so then I uninstalled it and re-installed sandboxie 3.2 .

After that I tried to re-install 3.4 and now I am left with none of my created sandboxes showing up in the sandbox control window.

Is there a way to import the old sandboxes some way ?

Or try and recover sandboxie's config file ?

Sandbox settings are stored in the sandboxie.ini file in your windows folder. If that file has been overwritten during the new install, no, you won't be able to recover your previously configured sandboxes.

Unless you thought ahead, and
1. Have a recent hard disk backup, from which you can extract individual files, or
2. Have a boot CD like Ultimate BootCD for Windows, with an undelete program on it, or
3. A flash drive or floppy disk with an undelete program on it
then I guess you're going to have to reconfigure things.
Depending on how much hard disk activity you've had since the delete, it may not be recoverable with an undelete program anyway.

Maybe Sandboxie's uninstall routine can be changed to rename the .ini file as a .bak file, instead of deleting it.
It would be easy enough, after a fresh install, to delete the new .ini file; rename the .bak file; and then do a Reload Configuration.
Feature request, anyone?

Yeah, I think that's a good idea.. I had to rebuild my sandboxes a couple of times in the past. I back it up now, so it's not a big issue,

I don't know, some people take it personally when an uninstaller leaves stuff behind. Smile

But I can put up a message box during uninstall that asks if you want to keep or delete Sandboxie.ini.

Sandboxie 3.41.05 un-installer asks to keep or delete Sandboxie.ini.
