version 35.24 same problem, :\

huukiller: when you download the files from orkut, your sandboxed browser should be creating files that have orkut in the name. So use Process Explorer to scan for "orkut" (no quotes) and tell me what you get.

i dont understand the that you says :\, how i do this...?

Hi Tzuk

I did download Process Explorer before my last post but what you were asking for (To scan) I could not relate to the menu items offered. I have never used process Explorer before

When you talk a scan, precisely what do I have to do. Which menu & sub menu? I need an idiots guide!

Next, does this scan have to be done when downloading? If so I need to do a fairly hefty download in order to be able to get Process Explorer functioning within the time of downloading.

What am I looking for in terms of information to feed back to you?

Thanks, we will only need to do this once if you explain it OK

Terry

I see. So it must be some other problem.

First, download some file in a sandboxed Web browser, and note the name of the file you are download.

Wait for the download to finish.

Then, Start Process Explorer, go to Find menu, then click Find Handle or DLL. A window opens. In this window, enter the name of the file you downloaded. Just the last part with the name is fine, don't bother with any paths or folder locations. Then click Search. Do you see any search results?

Now I expect you will not see any results, because huukiller has reported not seeing any results.

* * *

For the next beta version, I will add some internal messages to report what Sandboxie thinks is going on. I will explain later how you would view these messages and report them to me.

Hi Tzuk

Thanks for the very clear explanation of what to do.

I did what you said exactly and you were right, nothing to report. When you produce the next beta and include the reporting mechanism I will know what to do to give you the info you need

Thanks

OK, this is what I'd like you to do.

Download DebugView from Microsoft:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896647.aspx

Upgrade to Sandboxie version 3.35.25

Run DebugView

Run whatever sandboxed browser that is causing trouble with immediate recovery

Try to download a file

Close the sandboxed browser

Go to DebugView and use File menu > Save command to save the debug log to some file

Finally, upload the log file somewhere, or email it to me, or just paste its contents here.

Thanks!

For some reason, my sandboxed Firefox could not download this file. An unsandboxed Firefox did, though.

[Edit]The download limit for this file has been reached - I put another copy on RapidShare

Yes.

Unfortunately not yet Smile But of course the debug prints that you two have produced are very helpful, and allow me to focus the investigation on a particular area.

I now revised the print messages. There should be a lot less messages this time, but there are more messages in the particular area of interest.

Please repeat the experiment with this version:

These last logs show that Sandboxie does not see any contents in those file where you are not getting the recovery prompts.

In other words, TerryWood, for you that is SandboxieInstall-335-26.exe:

Code:
00000418 37.10465240 [680] Checking recoverable for create
00000419 37.10547638 [680] \Device\HarddiskVolume1\Downloads\SandboxieInstall-335-26.exe
00000421 37.10744476 [680] file is recoverable
00000422 37.10789108 [680] file closed: (1) \
00000423 37.10829926 [680] file closed (1)
00000424 37.10869598 [680] file closed: rec=1 sxs=0
00000425 37.10913849 [680] file closed (2)
00000426 37.10992432 [680] file closed: status=00000000 [b]size=0-0[/b]

For huukiller the same thing happens with ServiceLogin.htm. So my question is this:

If you recover those particular files manually using Quick Recovery, are they recovered as empty files with a zero length?
