What is the concern here? Sure, I could revise the program to check if no sandboxes still use this template, and remove the associated template variable. But why should I bother?

Since details about this feature set are still scant (and you invited comments),
I wanted to confirm that this behaviour is not peculiar to my setup alone.
Sorry if my query offended you.

Alright soccerfan. I suppose I did over-react. Smile I'm sorry too.

So, did I get this right in regard to local templates:
As long as the line Template=Local_Appxx and the relevant code under [Template_Local_Appxxx]
is present in sandboxie.ini, it will show up as enabled in the sandboxie control panel and
that code will be read and implemented.

And, if this local application Appxxx is removed (disabled) in the sandboxie control panel,
the line Template=Local_Appxxx is actually deleted from sandboxie.ini and the code under
[Template_Local_Appxxx] in sandboxie.ini is still present but ignored.

Is this a replacement and/or export of the built-in (hard coded) exclusions/rules, or like an add-on?

Mitch, I was looking at your AutoSizer template,

[Template_Local_AutoSizer]

Tmpl.Class=Local

OpenWinClass=SysListView32

Are you sure SysListView32 is needed? The AutoSizer123 definitely is needed, otherwise AutoSizer doesn't work, but I did not see any difference whether SysListView32 is added or not. I'm thinking of dropping it from the "official" AutoSizer template. What do you think?

Yes. As you may have seen, if you click Create New and paste the settings for a template that already exists, then it completely overwrites the old template in Sandboxie.ini. I can perhaps tweak it a bit so if remove a "Local" application configuration, and it is no also associated to any other sandbox, then Sandboxie Control offers to delete this template completely.

What? Sorry, I didn't understand the question.

I have no problems either way (if you leave it as is or decide to tweak it as explained).

OTOH, now that I understand better how it works, leaving it the way it is now could be regarded
as a 'feature' for enabling/disabling templates 'on the fly', so to speak, without having to re-enter
them by hand everytime they might be needed again.

I'll start collecting my local templates in local_templates.ini
(for safe keeping) just in case you do decide to tweak Very Happy

The reason for my question: As I see no benefit of it, it just makes configuration more messy, I'm not willing to use and work with it and I want to use SBIE the way before, how to disable this template stuff? ... just terrible. Removing the .ini file causes an error message.

Here is the original configuration posted by Dlguild. http://sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=10670#10670 Note the settings that Dl proposes also to the AutoSizer program.

Quote:
2. Reload the configuration file
3. Open Program Sandboxed - Make note of a single word which will always appear in the title bar for this program
4. Open AutoSizer Configuration Window
5. Click on the program in the upper pane you wish to configure
6. Click "AutoSize"
7. Select "Action to perform", I assume you want "Maximize"
5. Change "Window Title" to contain a single word that will always appear in the title bar (in my case I used "FireFox"
6. Select "Compare using window title"
7. Select "Title must contain the window title listed above"

It was to satisfy "Open in a new window" problem for Rasheed187. Maybe you don't have the AutoSizer settings as Dl suggested? I seem to need the setting for "SysListView32" here.....

Example; Open www.google.com - in the address bar type redtube.com - click a movie clip (you have to wait till the movie is over to continue the test) Very Happy

I just tried reproducing, not with Firefox but with Notepad. Earlier I already experimented with "AutoSize by window class" and saw no need for SysList32. Now I tried also with "AutoSize by window name" but still I don't need SysList32. And that is on XP which I believe is the same as you.

So ... I don't know. I think I'll leave it out, I just don't see why it should be necessary. Maybe I have a newer version of AutoSizer and this is no longer needed?

Feel free to disconnect all application configurations from all your sandboxes. You can review the Templates.ini file to learn which resources you need to manually edit into your sandboxes. I really don't see why you would want to do that, but if that's the way you absolutely have to have it, then you can have it.

It's now very easy to add new configurations, so in principle, yes. But, what is there to exclude with Maxthon? Doesn't it use the same folders as Internet Explorer?

IEXPLORER doesnt use same folder for profile and bookmark of maxthon

maxthon patch for its bookmark is C:\Program Files\Maxthon2\SharedAccount\Config\SiteList.xml

what it the line i got to add to make direct access to maxthon bookmark?

Yes XP is the same as me. Here it is needed with Internet Explorer and clicking links within web pages that "Open in a new window". Without the setting, the new window isn't Autosized....... The original web page that you first open does work without the setting, but a new window doesn't. Maybe if you disable tabs - I think it was mostly for IE6.

For now just use Sandbox Settings -> Resource Access -> File Access -> Direct Access to add this one SiteList.xml file.

And in the next version I will add a configuration template that does the same thing.
