1. The Internet Explorer icon in the regular start menu gives me the error.
2. I don't know how it relates either, just observing it.
3. I will try the toolbar as you suggest and report back.

OK, my results are this; Similar to DogDog in the two posts that open this thread, I can not get the classic DropMyRights shortcuts to work in the recent versions. I scanned this thread and do not see where DogDog was given an answer as yet. DogDog stated that he had to go back to version 3.30 to get the shortcuts to work. I did this also and now the shortcuts do work with 3.30. I tried IE with the Styler Toolbar under DropMyRights with 3.30 and the toolbar does display properly.

I can't get version 3.33.04 or 05 to work at all here. I am on 02 at the moment. This is a default XP install except for one thing - I have quite a few services disabled. I am setting up a drive later today and will try it with all of the default services enabled and see how that goes.

Also I'm afraid that I don't understand the comment about IEXPLORE.EXE and the Hidden checkmark and how that relates to anything.

The icon looks exactly like it would look if you removed access to Internet Explorer through;
Set Program Access And Defaults > Custom > uncheck 'Enable Access To This Program' for IE
So since we are talking about the users access though Drop Rights, I thought maybe it meant something.

Mitch, I understand what to do about the Styler Toolbar issue. Haven't tried to reproduce yet but it looks like I have to install the add-on and see if it works when Drop Rights is in effect.

But I don't understand what else doesn't work and why you say "can't get version 3.33.04 or 05 to work at all here". Do you mean when Drop Rights is in effect, Internet Explorer doesn't start at all? Do you get any error messages?

Tzuk, I am in the middle of that new drive install. I have been doing a few settings and jumping in and out of Returnil and a few more settings and reinstalling Sandboxie - trying to pin down where the problem is. It is definitely at my end cause I tried it all in the very beginning and it worked fine. (not the toolbar though - but it looks like maybe you have that covered). I didn't get to Services yet so my problem isn't there. Anyway, somewhere in what I am doing is causing Sandboxie not to open anything at all when Drop Rights is used.

haha But the thing is that I sorta think that in one of my tries I forgot to hit 'Apply' on the Drop Rights tab and continued setting things up thinking it was working fine. But I don't know where that point in time is. Very Happy So I want to find it to pin it down, but have no choice at this point but to format and begin again. So I will report back late tonite or in the AM.

I uploaded a toolbar for you cause finding one that includes Internet Explorer along with Windows Explorer is sometimes difficult. http://rapidshare.com/files/174066622/Styler.zip.html
You dont have to install this - just double click the Styler.exe and it will appear in your tray. Then in the IE toolbar go to "View > Toolbars > Styler Toolbar and it will come up. You can place the folder anywhere (desktop is ok for temporary) - Double click the tray icon to open and the 2nd tab "Toolbar" > Hide Menu Bar will hide the File-Edit-View-Favorites-Etc area.

It works fine up to 3.33.02 - but 3.33.04 is no good

Tzuk, I'm all good here. The format and reinstall went good this time and I can not locate any errors. It's only the toolbar that is still not showing.

Tzuk here is where I went wrong; My Computer menu > Manage > Local Users and Groups. See the top box with the red x's. Windows will not allow you to delete Guests. Deleting the other two is ok - Sandboxie is fine. The bottom pic shows Groups and a couple have items in them. For me there is one in Help Services Group and one in Guests - these are safe to delete also. In the Users group I have two entries as the photo shows, deleting either of these is ok and Sandboxie is fine. But if you leave the users group empty by deleting both - reboot - that's the error I got.

This is probably not anything to do with Sandboxie and is a result of over zealous pruning, I admit - I just wanted you to be aware of it. If you want to check it a reg backup protects your previous settings.

Not sure I understand what you're getting at, Mitch:

Seems to me that what you've done was to discard all privileges and rights that were not associated with your membership in the Administrator group.

And then when Sandboxie's Drop Rights disassociates the sandboxed process's membership in the Administrator group, that process is left with no privileges or rights, and errors appear.

Makes sense?

And as a side note, I think if you log off and log back in, that's enough to refresh your security -- no reboot necessary.

Yeah, it does make sense. What I thought I was doing was merely discarding members of that users group (since they were not me), but it looks like that is how Windows works. How I have it now is that I have myself as a member of the Admin plus a member of the Users groups, and deleted those other two users. All works fine now. thanks.

I just got a chance to try out 3.33.07 + DMR on my XP box. When I start FF, I get a message from FF saying it can't set some security token (or something like that). FF starts up, but nothing works. My addons are not active and I can't navigate to any sites or anything. When I disable DMR, everything returns to normal. There's nothing special about my XP setup. I'm only running NOD32 for other security software. Definitely something weird going on...I wonder if this is the problem others were reporting with the latest MS updates? I always keep that machine up to date, so it's possible.
