Yep, thats exactly right. Thats why when you goto your IE box and "Run Web Browser", it launches Firefox, since Firefox is your default browser. One of the things you could do is setup each box to force a program to run sandboxed. To do that, open Sandboxie control, right click the sandbox you want to set up the force process for, then goto "Sandbox Settings -> Force Programs" and add your processes there. For example, in your IExplore box, you could set (by name) "iexplore" and then next time you open IE (normally) it'll be forced to open sandboxed in the IExplore box. The other thing you could do is open Sandboxie Control, (at the top) click "Settings -> Shell Intergration -> Add Shortcut Icons". Once you click "Add Shortcut Icons", then select which sandbox you'd like the shortcut to open the specified program in (for example, choose your IExplore box), then the Sandboxie Startmenu will open (it may take a moment), once its open, select the program you'd like to be opened (in the box you just selected) which in this case would be Internet Explorer, then Sandboxie will create an icon on your desktop. Whenever you'd like to quickly open IE sandboxed, just double click that icon on your desktop, and IE will open sandboxed in the IExplore box (assuming you selected the box "IExplore" and the program IE when you used the "shortcut maker"). I hope this wasn't too confusing, and it is actually alot easier then it sounds, I just wanted to make sure I mentioned every small detail (in hopes of making this easier to understand). Btw, about ForceProcess, im not sure since i've been registered for quite a while now, but I think ForceProcess is one of the things only available to registered users. So if you try to force IE or OE and it doesn't work and you aren't registered, then you know why. |

(1) Your sandbox may be named OExpress, but when you click "Run Email reader" then your default email program gets launched, and that seems to be Thunderbird and not Outlook Express. (2) Then Sandboxie complains that sandbox OExpress has no special configuration for Thunderbird. To fix (1), run Outlook Express and set it as your mail program, or use the Windows "Set Program Access and Defaults" window. To fix (2), open settings for OExpress sandbox, and configure it for use with Outlook Express. |

Hi Tzuk
Thanks for your reply. As I understand it, what you are suggesting is not what I want. Currently I have the following Sandboxes DefaultBox (Firefox) Default Browser TBird Sandbox Default Mail Client Opera Sandbox browser IExplore Sandbox Browser OExpress Sandbox Mail Client WMP sandbox WHAT I WANT - Is to be able to right click on the sandboxie control icon and to be able to launch each or all of the above application successfully in their own sandbox What I think you appear to be suggesting is that I just change from TBird and make OExpress the default mail client. I don't want to do that. Could you advise me whether it is possible to achieve WHAT I WANT and how to do it Thank you very much Holier |

Well, WHAT YOU WANT, would require a revise in the GUI, which isn't something tzuk wants to do right now since he wants to get the new sandboxie to an official version, which aint gonna happen if he has to keep adding to the beta versions of Sandboxie. WHAT YOU COULD DO though as an alternative, would be to create Desktop icons, then you can just click on those icons to open the respective program sandboxed in their sandbox. Thats about as close as you're going to get to "clicking icons" for now. You would've know this had you not completely skipped over my response.

I'd say SnDPhoenix is right, the best thing to do here is to use Sandboxie Control to create icons that will do what you want, in the sense that they will start whatever program you want, in whatever sandbox you pre-select. Use:
Sandboxie Control menu -> Configure -> Shell Integration -> Add Shortcut Icons Note that Configure menu was called Settings in versions earlier than 3.02.29. |
