Iam already using SB 3.52, wich is refered to as a solution to such problems. But it did not work until I removed the win-update. Same version works fine on Win7pro (x64), but not on WinXP WITH KB2393802. As I read in the forum, there may be a solution installing the beta 3.53.xx. So I would like to try, but I just can't find a download link on www.sandboxie.com. Please Help. Sanboxie was keeping my system safe for years now, and it's very good to see - before installation - what a new program changes. Greetz, and thanks for help. olf73m tzuk: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64505#64505 Sun Feb 20, 2011 3:52 pm http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64505#64505 I updated the help text for SBIE2304 and SBIE2306 so it recommends getting version 3.53. tzuk: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64335#64335 Wed Feb 16, 2011 1:50 pm http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64335#64335 Thanks riso :D riso: Beta version and SBIE2304 and SBIE2306 http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64323#64323 Wed Feb 16, 2011 4:40 am http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64323#64323 Hello, I was not sure where to post this, in the problem or the beta section, I hope this is ok. I just installed version 3.53.02 and everything appears to be working fine. Just for clarification I did the following: Deleted the reg fix for the 2304 and 2306 errors Restarted my system Installed version 3.53.02 and Sandboxie started up with no errors. Thank you tzuk riso: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64268#64268 Mon Feb 14, 2011 11:51 pm http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64268#64268 Guesting, I hope I have not misunderstood your post, so please forgive me if I have as I have a little trouble understanding sometimes. I just wanted to state that I did not mean to imply that by doing the workaround that that is what corrupted my catroot2 folder. Over the years I have fixed this issue on different systems (corrupted catroor2 folder) and it seem to happen for no apparent reason that I can see. This was on a recently rebuilt system and it happened once after installing all the updates after SP3. Since it corrected itself on the next update and did not give me an error, I had forgotten about it. After a while and after I did the reg fix I had some other problems that I had not seen before, hence I felt I should take it to the shop. I did not state my original problem correctly in this area and I can see how someone might think I was blaming the fix for the problem. Tzuk has a great product and I just wanted to correct this impression that I may have given and state that I did not mean to imply that the fix had caused my problem. Thank you. tzuk: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64262#64262 Mon Feb 14, 2011 11:23 pm http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64262#64262 ]]>Quoting guesting: ]]>I am not sure how the existance of the registry key could have caused your windows update issue. ]]> Please read the topic that is linked at the top, i.e. http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64019#64019 The bottom post of that topic explains why a registry key makes all the difference. guesting: at riso http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64248#64248 Mon Feb 14, 2011 4:27 pm http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64248#64248 I am not sure how the existance of the registry key could have caused your windows update issue. KB979683 has been superceeded at least twice. When a patch is superceeded all its fixes are rolled into the next cumulative update and the old patch is no longer offered. So as long as you have the latest cumulative update, windows updates knows the machine is up to date whether or not this key exists. Even if you uninstalled the latest cumulative update, there still would not be an issue because windows update will see the KB979683 key and determine that the patch is outdated and offer you the cumulative update anyways. tzuk: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64187#64187 Sun Feb 13, 2011 11:40 am http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64187#64187 Should be fixed in Sandboxie beta version 3.53.02. As for a response, creating this registry key is only a temporary workaround until the next beta version of Sandboxie which will not require the workaround. riso: SBIE 2306 and SBIE 2304 Reg Edit Fix Question http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64141#64141 Sat Feb 12, 2011 3:13 am http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=64141#64141 Hello, Please, I am not trying to start something, I am just trying to get an answer on this issue. The local shop is advising against the temporary fix that this forum has suggested concerning the reg edit as stated in the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP4\KB979683 They state that if you apply this to the registry that the system will “think” that that particular update is applied and this could cause problems. I do not have knowledge in this area and I depend on others who do. I do not see tzuk allowing this though if it could cause a problem, so could someone please reply their opinion on this? The reason I know about the shop stating this is that after I applied the reg fix to my system (and it worked fine, no problems at all now), that I started getting errors concerning updates for my system. Since the errors were above my knowledge I took it to the shop and let them know the history of the system. They then stated the above. I finally fixed the problem without the shop (corrupted catroot2 folder), so at this point I am not that impressed with the shop, but I am still curious about the statement they made.
