Sandboxie Forum - Favorite list not showing in IE7 when sandboxed. (1415) http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1415 en-us 90 Tue May 15, 2007 4:54 pm Tue May 15, 2007 4:54 pm tzuk: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=7271#7271 Tue May 15, 2007 4:54 pm http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=7271#7271 I have stumbled across a feature of IE which may be related to this. Use Internet Options from the Control Panel, and view the Advanced tab (last one). There is a list of Accessibility options, then Browsing options. In the Browsing category, there is "Enable personalized favorites menu." I don't really understand this feature, but I think it's supposed to hide favorites that are not used often. Perhaps with Sandboxie, IE thinks all favorites are not used often, for some reason. So, my question, do you have that checked? If so, clear it, delete sandbox (to make sure the changed setting will apply in the sandbox), then restart IE. Anything different? martinr: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=7227#7227 Sun May 13, 2007 12:51 am http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=7227#7227 Well, I changed the location of Favorites back to the default - C: drive and my Favorites show up in both sandboxed and non-sandboxed versions of I.E. (so I reverted the location back to my D: drive). However, since trying that out, and updating with the lastest Windows Critical Upddates, my I.E. now takes one and a half minutes to load - same as my Outlook Express (as per my posting Laptop Locking Up - but that's another problem!) martinr: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=7202#7202 Sat May 12, 2007 11:26 am http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=7202#7202 I have changed several settings in I.E. as recommended by various sources especially to tighten up security. However, it struck me that one thing I have done in relation to Favorites is that, when I installed I.E., I used TweakUI to move my Favorites folder from its default location (C: drive) to my D: drive. I partitioned my hard drive: C: for operating system I.E. etc; D: drive for data ; E: drive for all other programs/applications. Now, chances are that has absolutely nothing to do with your snag. But if I get the chance, I stick Favorites back to its default location and see if I can see them in the Sandboxed I.E. If you want to cross-refence any settings or Sandboxie trace stuff from my machine, let me know. If you have patience to play with this, try following the suggestions in this topic, or try to find if you have any special plugin or other kind of software that is causing this weirdness. I have reported this ~month ago. tzuk: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=6810#6810 Fri Apr 27, 2007 2:26 pm http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=6810#6810 I have no idea what could be causing this. How about a SandboxieTrace? Not sure it'll reveal anything, but I think we might as well try it. It would be best if you enable the trace for only FileTrace=ad, then start a sandboxed command prompt and do that "dir" command. This way you could post just the last 20-30 trace lines, they should represent the "dir" command and we could see what's going on. Moved all favorites from the Favorites folder and started a sandboxed IE favorites, the favorites are still NOT shown. Starting an unsandboxed IE shows the favorites to be empty as one would expect. tzuk: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=6745#6745 Thu Apr 26, 2007 10:02 am http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=6745#6745 Can you see them listed if you run an unsandboxed cmd and type this command? I'm running IE 6. But I have remapped the favourites directory to D drive. I suspect Sandboxie has problem with that. Please see my other post about problems with remapped My Documents and Desktop. There were times with so many problem reports, it's just difficult for me to deal with everything. And sometimes other people don't care enough to say anything either. :( Can you make this a bit clearer. Do you mean that the favorites aren't there, or just their window isn't displayed correctly? If you invoke Oragnize Favorites from the menu, do you see them?
I wasn't being critical of you or the forum members, just bringing the problem back up for help. To answer your questions: Clicking on Favorites in IE7 shows the following three items - "Add to favorites" "Add tab group to favorites" (greyed out) and "Organize favorites", the favorite list is not shown. Clicking on "Add to favorites" brings up the add a favorite screen. In the "create in panel" clicking on the down arrow shows the favorites list, adding an item to the list works but the list is still not shown under "Favorites". Clicking on "Organize favorites" brings up a blank screen. Clicking on new folder in the "Organize favorites" brings up an error message "An error has occurred in this dialog error:59 unspecified error. Any help in rectifying the problem would be mush appreciated. tzuk: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=6658#6658 Tue Apr 24, 2007 10:08 pm http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=6658#6658 [quote:0196e9466c]Yes, I had this option checked, any other suggestions?[/quote:0196e9466c] Sorry if you feel you were being ignored earlier when you posted this. Unknown_User_555: Favorite list not showing in IE7 when sandboxed. http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=6638#6638 Tue Apr 24, 2007 2:00 pm http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=6638#6638 I've posted this problem previously but had no replies for my plea for assistance. The problem - If I run Internet Explorer 7 sandboxed my favorites list doesn't show, this happens with all versions from 2.80 up to 2.86. However, Internet Explorer 7 shows the favorite list correctly when not sandboxed. I'm now running version 2.64 and the favourite list shows correctly when sandboxed. As I had no replies to my pervious message it would seem that I may be the only one having the problem - it would be nice to know if anyone else can, or can't see the favourite list while sandboxing IE 7 using versions 2.80 upwards?
